Berries for camping

This past week we went blueberry picking a couple of times and cherry picking.  Yum!
Dylan is great at 'taste testing' all the varieties.

We are very serious about our berry picking since it is so late of a season this year...Cole is making sure we get as many as we can!

Since my children have decided to be so particular about what clothes they wear...everything has to be very comfy and the 'right' color...I took them to the fabric store to pick out fabric they liked that they would wear.  Mom picked out the seersucker stripes that made Cole's pants...with their approval.  And Dylan picked out the red with stars fabric...mom added racing stripes down the sides to make them even more appealing to wear.  Cole's flame fabric shorts and old sheet sleeping shorts still to come...

This weekend we spend 2 days on the South Santiam River at House Rock camp ground.
Dylan is cheering for the smores we just ate!

One of the days we went on a 3+ hour hike up to Cone Peak...we didn't make it all the way to the very top...

...but saw a few lower elevation meadows...

...and a nice log for lunch and silliness...

...before getting to the first alpine meadow...our final destination.

The boys were so excited to reach that upper meadow to see all the beautiful flowers in bloom.

We got in a few good shots before heading back down the mountain.  Cole has now turned into the photographic poser...always willing to stop and smile...while Dylan has turned into the anti-wanting-to-get-his-picture-taken child, hence the abundance of pictures of Cole and not Dylan.

Our camp ground was at a very beautiful and kid friendly part of the river.  Many hours were spent throwing rocks into the river...an extremely popular activity for boys, big and small.

Dylan is excited for our campground pizza.

Happy boys!
