Oceanside to Lopez...a week of beaches.

Last week we all took off for a week of fun and sun at the beach.
We spent the first part of the week at a friends' house in Oceanside...northern Oregon coast.

We did get sun...but classic Oregon beach weather it was also a bit cool.

But that didn't deter the fun or smiles!

It was perfect sandcastle building weather!

We could spend hours working on perfecting the sandcastle city!

The boys were so proud of their castle.  They kept checking on it after we went back up to the house...yes, the house was right on the beach!!

One of the boys favorite activities was to sit on the deck of the house and watch all the people on the beach.  They exclaimed "this is the best summer show around!"  And let me tell you that Mom and Dad fully agree!

There is almost nothing more beautiful than a NW beach...and my children playing on it!

Then we headed up to Lopez Island (one of the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington, north of Seattle) to visit Nana.  Another beautiful destination!!

Who doesn't love playing 'seaweed creatures'!?

Mom and Dad were thinking ahead when we packed the big shovels!
Big red shovels = happy boys!

The boys had another ceramic lesson from Nana.

They were concentrating so hard!  They worked on building bowls with Nana for several hours!

Mother. Daughter.
Nana. Mommy.

The ruffians.

There IS a photo of mom and dad together!
At another beautiful Lopez beach.  Thanks for a great visit Nana!!

On the way home we stopped in Seattle for dinner and some running around time before getting back in the car.  Cole really liked this eyeball sculpture!

The boys always love pointing out the Seattle Space Needle... so Cole wanted me to take his picture with it in the background.

We sure had an amazing time on our journey to the beach!!
