Fall Funnies and Sickies

Last week Dylan was sick most of the week so we spent a good bit of time indoors working on our lists...
and trying to come up with fun and unusual things to do...like toss the tortilla (which is just above the photo frame and out of view). Cole got real good at this game and liked tossing the tortilla up high where we couldn't reach it!

Cole got to go to a local pumpkin patch with his class...it was POURING rain the whole time. But he really didn't care. He was so proud of his big green pumpkin that he picked out. (Unfortunately, Dylan was sick and missed his classes field trip to the pumpkin patch...it's a good think Mommy already took the boys earlier in the month!!
Dancing in the rain!

Nana's been visiting this weekend and is enjoying all the fall color and falling leaves...just like the boys! Here they are in a bed with leaf blankets on.
They like to make it rain leaves.

Doesn't Dylan look so tall here? They are almost 3 and are growing so fast! They got a real kick out of having it rain leaves down on Mommy!

Pumpkin Patch

Today mommy took the boys to our favorite pumpkin patch for some lunchtime fun after a big day at school.
They loved the straw bale maze...they thought it was so funny when they got to a dead end and had to turn around.

The boys love playing in the 'corn-sandbox' as they call it.
They love to bury their feet and roll around in the kernels. They kept saying "Mommy, ask me where my feet are!"

We took a tractor hay ride out to the pumpkin patch...Dylan was thrilled that we got the green tractor!

It rained HARD last night so there was deep, wet mud everywhere...the guys were so excited they picked out a pumpkin quickly and were eager to head back to the deepest mud spots to play...and fall...and get thoroughly covered in wet thick mud! I kept telling myself that Rob will be so proud of me that I stood back and just let them be boys and get REAL dirty. I had to strip them both down to their skivvies before driving home...but they were tired and happy and took a 2.5-hour nap when we got home!! Good thing because it took me at least a half hour to rinse out all the mud from their clothes (they even got mud on the insides of their boots!)!

birds and binoculars

Today we went to to a local wildlife rehabilitation center for their 20-year anniversary celebration. The best part of the whole day was making their own binoculars! They love playing with ours at home...so this was exceptionally fun for the guys.
They went around to the animal and bird habitats and looked at everything through their special binoculars!
Dylan decorated his in green and Cole's was red.
The boys loved having to whisper during the red-tailed hawk demonstration...meaning they talked through most of the presentation!
Cole's hair was excited too.

Silly Spiders

We didn't have school today so we first went and met some friends at a playground and then we headed over to our pal's Mei Zhen, Shan Li and Mama Lynn's house for lunch and crafts.
We made spider webs with spiders in them!
And Dylan and Mei were getting in the Halloween mood...Dylan with antlers and Mei with her fairy wings and tutu.
Cole was very proud of his finished product.
Dylan kept telling me to touch the sticky web and once I did he would pretend it was stuck to my hand...over and over and over!
Everyone was excited because scissors were involved in this project!

pompoms and hoses

This weekend we went to an OSU volleyball game with some friends. The guys thought the best part was the band, Benny the beaver (OSU mascot), and the cheerleaders! And that they could scream as loud as they wanted and wouldn't be told to quite down.

We also went to the Fire Departments Treasure Hunt day. We went to 3 different fire stations to do different activities...
Here they got to dress up in JR. firefighter outfits and do firefighting activities.
Cole is carrying a fire hose.
I think they called this drag a dead body activity?...but it was cute because they had to pull the rope to move a heavy weight. Cole was grunting while he was pulling and then during Dylan's turn Cole helped out and pushed the weight so Dylan could pull it all the way to the finish line.
Then they got to use a real fire hose and spray a fire target. Dylan was so excited because the fire man helping him let also him spray the trees next to the driveway.

They got to sit in the drivers seat of the big fire engines. Cole is driving this rig...and has his own sound effects going!
Dylan was amazed by the ladder truck demonstration.
Needless to say the boys had a FABULOUS day.
