Don't mess with the Fiegener boys!

This was ALL their doing... I don't know what else to say, except you've been warned.
We did talk about hammer safety after this shot.

Shrewsbury Festival

This past weekend, between wiping runny noises, we checked out the local Shrewsbury Festival. It was fun to see all the people dressed up. The guys didn't quite know what to make of it all.
They sure enjoyed the jousting show...we were cheering for the red player. We went to get shaved ice once they got off their horses and started battling with swords and axes. We don't need to give the boys any extra ideas on how to fight with each other!
Here is Dylan getting ready for 'fire school' this week.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for the boys! In preparation for the first day the boys decided to catch up on current affairs by reading the newspaper. They both did so great and went right into their classrooms (they are in different rooms with different teachers) after saying goodbye to Mom and Dad. On the walk to school the boys were talking about their teachers and they both said that they loved their teachers (they met their teachers for the very first time...yesterday) and Cole even said 'I won't cry when I go to school'! Lucky us! And there wasn't a single tear shed...not even from Mommy!
When we picked them up they were tired but happy. When we asked what they did in school, all they seemed to talk about was the cool playground. Both teachers said they picked up the routine great and that they did great all morning (they go from 8.30am to 11.30am).
We came home had lunch and they slept for 2 hours...which was the first nap in 5 days. Yeah school!!

Fun with Foam

Last week with our playgroup we did painting with saving cream. I mixed in some regular kids paint for a little color and the kiddos went to town on our outdoor playhouse.
Notice they start off carefully painting and staying very clean...
Then they start really getting into this painting thing...
Then they discovered how cool the foam feels on your hands!

Clean up was almost as fun as painting...by the end of the activity all the kids were naked playing in the hose and kiddie pool!

Busy Boys

This week we had our friend Mei Zhen and her little sister Shan Li over to make cookies! The kiddos all took turns measuring the ingredients and stirring. They even tasted great!!
The guys are non-stop working men...so they were very excited to help Daddy trim our dogwood tree. They had their safety helmets on and their ear protectors.
The good thing for us is that they actually like to help with yard work and picked up all the branches!
To reward our hard workers we went out to a Japanese restaurant. Cole loves the sticky rice and dipping sauces...by the end of the meal he was COVERED in rice. Rob had to take him outside to clean him off...not that the floor wasn't also covered!

We met our friends Matthew, Nicole and Jonah and Nicole's parents there and had an enjoyable dinner! It is possible...sometimes!

Visit to CA

Last week we attempted our first big road trip with the boys. We drove down to San Francisco area...about a 10 hour drive (not counting stops!). The guys were fabulous car travelers much to our surprise. On the way down Dylan had to go pee at just the right time because we ended up pulling over at this great new shopping center that had fire trucks, ambulances, jeeps, tow trucks, motorcycles, a jet boat and several other ride on toys. They had flashing lights and buttons that made sounds! The boys were in heaven and we HAD to stop at the same place on the way home.

Once in the bay area we had endless fun things to do. One day we took Uncle David to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf in the city. The boys got to ride on a carousel for the first time ever! I think they loved it but wasn't too sure about going round and round and up and down...especially after downing a big smoothie!

Then we met Grandpa Charlie for lunch at a local favorite, Red's Java House, which is right on the water. Uncle David introduced Dylan to ketchup...which he loved so much that he stopped dipping fries and just started using his fingers! (We've offered ketchup to the guys many times, but they've never shown any interest until Uncle David was involved.)
We made sure to hit all the best local playgrounds.
And Grammy Carol made two boys very happy by getting them strawberry sorbet!
The boys were so excited to play baseball (even though it was a football) with Grandpa Charlie...ever since we went to that baseball game they always want to play baseball with whatever ball they happen to have!
Grammy Carol took us all to the Bay Area Discovery Museum which the boys just loved. We could hardly pull them away from the rock pit with construction tools, helmets and trucks.
Among all the great activities there, Dylan spent lots of time in the art room playing with blue sand and painting.
A couple of guys enjoying their dinner.

Dylan got a shiner while playing on those fabulous fire trucks at the rest stop. When it happened I was sitting on a bench watching them. He cried when he slipped and bonked his eye on the side mirror of the truck...I got up to comfort him and while still crying he said he was fine and for me to go back and sit down on the bench.
It was quite warm while we were there so we took advantage and headed to the beach...which ended up being a most perfect beach day! We love those!

The fam.
Thanks for such a wonderful visit! We can't wait to see you all again soon!!
