Friends, Food, Fun

Our Memorial Day weekend was full of good friends, good food and good times.

We had our friends Nicole, Matthew and Jonah over for a barbecue. The boys were staking their claim on the trellis after a fun evening of food and playing naked in the pool.
Who doesn't love watermelon!
The next day we went over to the Gisler's house for some mid-day waffles, fruit salad, and bacon! Not to mention the pirate games, enormous Frisbee fun and...
...some quality time in the sandbox.

Today we spent a fun day home just the four of us. Here the guys are being silly while warming up and eating a rice cake snack after some serious (wading) pool time.

Sunny Santa Fe!

We all just got back from a fabulous visit to Nana Suzanna in sunny Santa Fe (every time someone says Santa Fe the boys laugh and say that sounds like Santa Claus!). It was so nice to dry out and warm up from a long wet NW spring.

The boys loved helping Nana plant her new herb garden.

Nana took us to the Children's Museum...one of our favorite places to play! Here Dylan and Daddy are playing with nuts and washers that stick to the large magnet in the middle of the table.

The guys had so much fun looking through magnifying lenses. They kept saying 'it makes it look bigger!'.
The best part of the museum, besides the art projects, water play river, bubble making tools (Daddy's favorite!), and climbing structures was by far the digging area. Or 'construction zone' as Dylan would call it. They had adult-looking shovels, rakes, and hoes as well as wheel barrows and buckets. A boys' heaven. Here Dylan takes a short break from being a 'working man' to have Nana feed him a snack.
Cole is admiring this large Native American sculpture. They liked all the bells around the waist and ankles...and were amazed at how big this sculpture was.

We all love relaxing in Nana's hammock! We were treated like kings and queens and had breakfast served to us outside amongst the cushy chairs and relaxing hammock. Lucky us!
Nana took us on a hike along this small creek. We didn't get far after the boys started throwing rocks in the water!

For Mommy's birthday we went to a fun playground and then had a picnic lunch under the shade. Here the boys are showing Nana their ballet dancing moves.Mommy and Nana...and a half eaten birthday cake.
Of course, the boys made sure to get in some reading time with Nana!!

The best part of the whole trip was the sand box that Nana set up for everyone. Here the guys are getting in one last play session before heading to the airport to return home. Thanks for a wonderful visit Nana! We miss you already! Every morning the boys sing their Camino Cacto song for you!

Grammy Carol's Visit

The boys are talking about how excited they are that Grammy Carol was coming for a visit. They were in a discussion about who was going to get to go through Grammy Carols suitcase first.
Grammy Carol brought some fabulous books for the boys...

...whom we all know can't wait for visitors to read to them!
We were all trying to recover from colds but we still had fun playing at some of our favorite playgrounds.

Between rain showers we headed out to Oregon State University's annual Pet Day. We got to pet baby goats, llamas, and this small pony. Here Grammy Carol is helping the boys feed grass to the pony.

Here is a fun video of a trio performance with the boys at the piano and Grammy Carol singing. The boys were just cracking up every time Grammy Carol would sing and randomly stop the song by saying 'The End'. Each time she would stop a song and say 'The End' Cole would play the lowest note on the piano and Dylan would cackle. Dylan couldn't stop asking for 'one more song'!

We had so much fun during your visit and can't wait for your return!!
