Sports weekend

So far we have had a sports filled weekend and it's only Saturday afternoon! Last night we went to watch a baseball game...the Corvallis Knights. The boys really enjoyed themselves and didn't want to leave at the 7th inning...but it was already past their bedtime so the game was officially over for us.
It wasn't too crowded and we had great seats!

The best part of the whole evening was when Daddy took the boys to buy a snack and they came back with popcorn. Dylan was so amazed that the popcorn came in a bucket. He kept saying to me 'Mom it comes in a bucket!'. (Dylan is determined to call Rob and I, Mom and Dad, no matter how many times we say 'no it's Mommy and Daddy'.) As you can tell, they love popcorn!
This morning we went and watched a friend play soccer and then headed to the skate park to eat a picnic lunch and watch a skate board competition. For some reason both boys wanted to take off their shirts while we were watching the skateboarders. So we sat there, shirtless, eating lunch, watching skaters, all while listening to the skaters Beastie Boys music. Sweet.

My boys.

They can be sweet, even though right now they are little monkeys bound and determined to not take a nap!

Nana Suzanna & Heat Wave

We were so lucky to have Nana Suzanna visiting us this week. Unfortunately we also had a record breaking heat wave this week that set all time high temperature records...one day was 108!! We decided to head to the coast where the high was about 80. And since it was supposed to be super hot all week we booked a hotel and stayed over a night. That was a very wise decision since we managed to miss the 108 and 105 degree days.

It was the most perfect day at the beach! And the very best day we have EVER had on an Oregon beach. It was warm, but not hot and there was a slight breeze and it was sunny!
The boys were so happy and entertained that Mommy even got to lay down on the beach blanket and read her book! Wow.
There was this nice small creek running down the beach that we played in with all our trucks and shovels.

The next day we went to the aquarium and met up with our friends Mei Zhen and her little sister Shan Li. We all enjoyed the sea creatures and loved getting to touch the anemones.

Mei and Dylan were hugging and kissing this sea turtle sculpture.
After the aquarium we headed out to another beach. We loaded the big kids up in the wagon to get out to the sand. Dylan was telling us to get a move on it.
It was foggy all day, but a comfortable temperature and not windy. Nana and Dylan enjoying a walk on the beach together. The guys started 'sand-diving' and were having a blast...and we were having a blast watching them!

Nana brought the boys a surprise dog/cow costume to play with...so they also wanted to get last years Halloween costumes out. Here is Cole's creature which was a combination of a lion head a dog/cow body and doggie slippers.

And of course the boys got Nana involved in their favorite past time...

Thanks for a fabulous visit Nana we can't wait to see you again!!

summer fun with the cousins

This past week was full of fabulous play time with all of the Fiegener cousins! The boys couldn't get enough of their 'big-kid' cousins...all 6 of them! Even if they seemed a bit shy at times...the boys were talking about all their cousins every minute we were away. And now that everyone went back home the boys 'pretend' that they are going over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to play with their cousins.

We don't have the best pictures of the fun week...never seemed to have the camera out at the right time! The guys had so much fun playing at the pool and at all the playgrounds we went to...especially this one. You might ask, 'are they relaxing on the beach somewhere?' Alas the answer is no. The boys and their cousins were playing in the sand of a volley ball field.

As you can see the boys really got into it. They eventually had all their clothes off and were rolling in the sand.
Here some of their cousins are 'helping' rinse off the sand with the handy outdoor foot washer/shower/drinking fountain apparatus conveniently located next to the sand.

We played up our Da Vinci Days festival and the kinetic sculpture race...which was somewhat dissapointing and less than half the size of previous years. Dylan was really excited even though it doesn't look like it in this picture!

Daddy and Cole were looking at the killer whale sculpture that was in the background of the previous picture. After all the cousins left the weather turned hot and we relaxed at our old stomping ground at a local creek. The boys are always up for playing if they have rocks, water, shovels and buckets.

Best Buds

Here are some extremely cute pictures of the boys and their best bud, Mei Zhen.

How cute are they?
Dylan is trying out Mei's headband as a fashion accessory...worn the 'cool' way of course!

Berries, Berries everywhere!

Right now is the peak of our berry season here in Oregon. You can pick strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. And they are amazingly good!! Yesterday we took Auntie Pernille, Uncle Danny and cousins Markus and Adam to pick blueberries and raspberries. We decided to forgo picking strawberries so our boys didn't get the unwanted effects of too many berries...since they were shoveling them into their mouths instead of the buckets!

Dylan would eat berries all day if we let him.

Here is everyone working on picking blueberries. Dylan is in his blueberry cave...Mommy had to use all her might to extract him from the cave so we could leave.
Then we moved on to a raspberry patch. Cole was so excited to pick big enormous berries!

Markus and Adam actually filled their buckets, while Dylan and Cole ate raspberries about as fast as I could pick them.

That night Auntie Pernille made blueberry and a raspberry pies. Dylan's favorite was the blueberry!

July 4th smoothies & living room projects

We had a fun 4th of July becoming JR firefighters, getting to sit in a fire truck (even though Dylan kept saying that he wanted to sit in the driver seat...which was not the seat they were offering), listening and dancing to music at our town's Red, While and Blues Festival...while sipping on a cool strawberry smoothy, and having dinner with some friends.

With the mention of the desire for a new living room wall color...a large project evolved. We ripped out old wood paneling that had years of wall paper and paint, and our carpet...which luckily revealed nice wood floors. We got on a roll and sold our old red couch and got a new one after talking about it for years. We are just about done with the project and will post pictures once everything is back in it's place.
Here the boys were so very excited to help Daddy with collecting all the staples he had pulled out while ripping out the carpet. These boys LOVE tools. The other day Dylan asked me if I could get him the pipe wrench out of the garage. I'm not sure if I could even identify what a pipe wrench looks like!

Cherry picker-squisher

We have a large cherry tree in our backyard. The cherries are small and have large pits...but the boys have discovered their sweet flavor. Cole is the ultimate cherry picker-squisher.
